Senior Advisor Quantity Surveying

About this role

Eskom is looking for a Senior Advisor in Quantity Surveying to work at Lethabo Power Station, near Deneysville in the Free State. The post sits in the Finance department and supports projects with contract costing, payment certification, evaluation and dispute resolution.

What you’ll do

• Give quantity surveying advice and standard support across the full life of a project.
• Prepare cost estimates for capital investment projects.
• Keep track of how consultants, contractors and suppliers perform on cost and quantities.
• Draft, review and measure enquiry documents, and check that they work as intended.
• Reconcile spending and forecast future expenditure.
• Mentor and coach quantity surveying staff.
• Follow Eskom and site rules on safety, health, environment, risk and quality (SHERQ).

What you need

• A B degree, B Tech or Advanced Diploma at NQF 7 (360 credits) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Construction or Economics.
• At least 5 years of related experience in quantity surveying, cost engineering or cost management, or engineering and construction contracts or project management in the built environment.
• Knowledge of contracts management, planning and scheduling, earned value management (EVM), cost engineering and project management.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to influence others.
• Experience coaching or mentoring others is a plus for leading a team.
