About this role

Sasol, the global chemicals and energy company, is recruiting a Shiftboss for its Syferfontein Mine near Secunda in Mpumalanga. The role keeps production on track while making sure work is done safely and within mining regulations.

What you’ll do

• Plan, organise and control daily work so your department meets its KPIs for safe coal output, measured in tons, cubic metres and shift targets.
• Monitor equipment availability, downtime and maintenance plans, and make sure spares and resources are in place.
• Make sure your area follows standard operating procedures, company governance rules and mining legislation.
• Solve first-line technical problems for your team, and run failure trend analysis to remove root causes.
• Manage costs, production volumes and budgets, and report against targets and the reporting calendar.
• Drive safety performance, track SHE compliance and lead observations, training days and on-the-job coaching for your team.

What you need

• National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or N3.
• A valid blasting certificate for fiery mines.
• At least 6 years of relevant working experience.
• Strong skills in troubleshooting technical issues, mining operations and mining optimisation.
• Good knowledge of SHE policies, procedures and standards, and risk management.
• Accountability, a hands-on approach, teamwork, courage to act and comfort with technology.
