Specialist: UI/UX Designer

About this role

Absa, the South African banking group, is hiring a UI/UX Designer based in Sandton. The job supports end-to-end user experience design, from early discovery work through to tested prototypes, across several digital products.

What you’ll do

• Design customer-focused digital experiences for web, mobile and newer digital channels.
• Combine user experience, interaction, visual design and research to build products that are easy to use, accessible and engaging.
• Build interactive prototypes and run usability tests to check ideas and customer journeys before they go further.
• Design for responsive and adaptive layouts that work on desktop, tablet and mobile.
• Work with design systems and component libraries, and help keep them consistent.
• Partner with product, business and engineering teams to deliver solutions that meet customer and business goals.
• Apply current best practice frameworks and give specialist advice in your area of responsibility.

What you need

• A Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Physical, Mathematical, Computer or Life Sciences (required).
• Strong skills in Figma for wireframing, UI design, prototyping and design system management.
• Experience creating interactive prototypes and running usability tests.
• A solid understanding of responsive and adaptive design.
• Experience working with design systems and component libraries.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and user-centred design practice.
