Artisan Mechanical Fitter Grade 2

About this role

Sasol, the global chemicals and energy company, is recruiting an Artisan Mechanical Fitter Grade 2 for its Secunda Operations in Mpumalanga. You will keep basic mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment and machines running by carrying out routine work to detailed instructions and performance targets.

What you’ll do

• Carry out routine mechanical and electro-mechanical tasks on plant equipment, following strict, detailed instructions.
• Use the plant maintenance documentation system and the work planning system.
• Complete hazard identification and task risk assessments, and apply emergency procedures.
• Follow safety management systems, housekeeping rules and waste disposal procedures.
• Take part in daily morning meetings, root cause analyses, risk assessments and toolbox talks to improve plant safety.
• Share knowledge with junior artisans and mentor learners informally, while giving regular progress feedback to your group leader or planning officer.

What you need

• Matric/N3 with Maths, English and Physical Science.
• An Occupational Trade Qualification in Mechanical (Red Seal).
• At least 3 years of relevant working experience.
• A valid driver’s licence.
• Good plant or process knowledge for your discipline, and the ability to read and apply task risk assessments.
• Advantageous: experience acting as a group leader or contributing to maintenance planning, though this is only required if it fits your career path.
