Cashier - Frontline Department

About this role

Brights Hardware is hiring a cashier for its frontline department in Mitchells Plain, Western Cape. The job keeps the tills running well, so customers leave happy and the store keeps growing.

What you’ll do

• Greet customers when they walk into the store.
• Ring up every sale on the till quickly and correctly.
• Count cash from customers and follow the cash-up steps.
• Process EFT payments.
• Do daily cash-ups and hand cash drops to your supervisor for safekeeping.
• Issue gift cards, check reward cards and cash in points. Know which promotions are on sale.
• Pack customers’ purchases into bags, keep your work area clean, and help with stock counts.

What you need

• Matric or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 6 months’ experience in a similar role.
• A clear credit record.
• Good customer service and people skills.
• Good numerical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle several tasks.
• Alertness. You watch for suspicious behaviour.
• The ability to work under pressure, in a team, and on your own with little supervision.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including public holidays, when the business needs it.
