Cashier

About this role

Pedros is opening a brand-new store in Paarl, Cape Town, and is hiring cashiers for the launch team. The role is about handling customer transactions and running the front counter well from the first day.

What you’ll do

• Take customer orders and payments, and make sure every transaction is correct.
• Use the POS system and fix simple problems when they come up.
• Handle cash, card and digital payments carefully.
• Give out receipts and deal with refunds or exchanges.
• Let customers know about specials and suggest other products.
• Keep the queue moving and answer basic questions or complaints.
• Keep the counter area clean and tidy, count your cash at the end of the shift and send in your end-of-shift report.

What you need

• Strong numeracy skills.
• A professional appearance.
• Good attention to detail and honesty.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Calm under pressure in a busy store.
• Previous cashier or retail experience is preferred, but not required.
