Chief Financial Officer

About this role

Impala Platinum (Implats) is hiring a Chief Financial Officer for its Rustenburg Operations in the North West. This is a senior, permanent post. You will give financial and commercial leadership to the operations and work as a key business partner to the CEO and the leadership team.

What you’ll do

• Build and roll out a financial and commercial management strategy for the Rustenburg Operations.
• Make sure the commercial and financial strategy supports day-to-day business needs and long-term growth.
• Lead the changes needed for optimisation and transformation, and help the business embrace them.
• Set up and manage sound financial controls, systems and processes.
• Oversee management’s review of internal financial controls and report material control gaps to the CEO, the Group CFO and governance committees.
• Guide the commercial functions so they stay aligned, well run and improving.
• Give financial support to special projects, especially where specialist tax, accounting and governance input is needed.

What you need

• CA or an equivalent financial qualification (essential).
• At least ten years of experience at senior management level in the mining industry (essential).
• Experience working in an SAP, BW or BPC environment, or a similar financial system (essential).
• An MBA or a Management Development Programme (advantageous).
• A good knowledge of the mining industry, accounting, commercial processes and governance.
• A good understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Strong leadership, planning, negotiation and conflict management skills.
• The ability to influence executives, senior managers and stakeholders, and to lead teams.
• Strategic thinking, business acumen, and sound risk-based and data-driven decision making.
