Winding Engine Driver

About this role

Impala Platinum (Implats) is recruiting a Winding Engine Driver in the North West. The role is permanent and focuses on running the mine winder safely during a shift, moving ore, people and equipment up and down the shaft.

What you’ll do

• Start the winder and keep full control of it for the whole shift.
• Carry out ore pulling from the relevant levels and move people by winder.
• Plan winding work with the wider process needs and respond to standard signals.
• Check your work area regularly, report hazards and recommend fixes where needed.
• Report winder defects, unsafe conditions and abnormal operations to your supervisor, manager or engineer.
• Complete accurate shift reports and help during breakdowns or emergencies.

What you need

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science, or an NQF 4 equivalent.
• DMRE Winding Engine Drivers Certificate.
• Banksman/Onsetter Certificate.
• 3 years’ working experience in a shaft barrel as a Banksman/Onsetter or Shaft Timberman.
• 2 years’ double drum winder experience.
• 2 years’ vertical shaft experience.
