Diesel Mechanic

About this role

Implats (Impala Platinum) is looking for a Diesel Mechanic for a permanent position in the North West. The role keeps mining vehicles and machinery running well so that equipment is used as efficiently as possible.

What you’ll do

• Repair, service and maintain diesel-hydraulic and electro-hydraulic vehicles and machinery.
• Follow safety rules and mine standards. Inspect your work area regularly, report hazards and suggest fixes.
• Take part in safety meetings and share ideas that make the workplace safer.
• Plan your team’s work, set priorities and request the resources you need.
• Complete and approve work orders, planned maintenance schedules and stock requirements.
• Write accurate reports, including safety, injury, hazard, risk and accident reports, shift reports and work order reports.
• Report defects and abnormalities to your supervisor or manager, and coordinate team members on assigned tasks.

What you need

• Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent.
• A Diesel Mechanic trade certificate, with proof that you are certified competent.
• At least 3 years of diesel mechanic experience in a mining environment.
• Good teamwork and communication skills, and a habit of working safely.
