Electrical Serviceman

About this role

Impala Platinum (Implats) is hiring an Electrical Serviceman based in Rustenburg, North West. The role focuses on keeping low voltage electrical equipment and machinery safe to use through regular inspection and maintenance.

What you’ll do

• Follow safety rules, mine standards and set procedures. Report any non-compliance you see.
• Take part in regular safety meetings and suggest ways to improve safety.
• Inspect your work area often, report hazards and recommend fixes.
• Look after batteries: install them, test for dead cells, replace faulty units and check water and acid levels.
• Wire and test single phase domestic electrical installations.
• Inspect, operate and maintain high mast lighting structures, and inspect and clean medium and high voltage yards and enclosures.
• Maintain DC machines, switchgear, lighting, distribution boards, transformers, compressors, crushers, conveyors and furnaces.
• Find and repair electrical faults. Build and keep good working relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders.

What you need

• Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent.
• Serviceman Certificate from an applicable training structure.
• Three years of experience as an Engineering Assistant or in a related job.
