Requirements :

  • A bachelor’s degree/ National Diploma in Environmental Health. Current Registration with the HPCSA as an Environmental Health Practitioner. A Minimum of 1-year appropriate experience after registration with HPCSA post community service and hospital experience will be an added advantage. Knowledge and understanding of policies and strategies of the department. Ability to apply relevant Environmental Health-related Acts and legislation. Knowledge and application of the Occupational Health and Safety Act as amended. Drivers’ licenses will be added as an advantage. Good communication (good ten and verbal). Computer literacy (e.g. Microsoft office, Presentation and Excel). Willing to work under pressure.

Duties :

  • Assist and support hospital management to comply with Environmental Heath related legislative prescripts, strategies, and guidelines of the department. Implement Water Quality monitoring. Food control monitoring. Health surveillance of premises. Surveillance of prevention of communicable diseases excluding immunization, vector and pest control, environmental pollution control, management of human remains and chemical safety. Ensure that the facility complies with general hygiene requirements. Implement the National Health Environment Management Plan and liaise with provincial EH programmed. Implement the national eh Norms and standards and support implementation of the Ideal Hospital Framework to ensure quality health services. Participate and provide support in any committee which promotes environmental health. Promote and advocate for climate change mitigation strategies. Investigate and report all OHS compliance and non-compliance. Within the workplace. Ensuring that all OHS structures are within the workplace. Attend and facilitate OHS meetings, attend to all OHS complaints from employees regarding their health and safety.
