About this role
Clicks Group is recruiting learners for its Killarney branch in Johannesburg. This is a learnership that lets you earn a qualification while you work in a pharmacy. You will report to the Pharmacy Manager.
What you’ll do
- Complete two linked qualifications: a National Certificate in Pharmacy Assistance learnership and a Further Education and Training Certificate in Pharmacist Assistance. Both are delivered through the Pharmacy Healthcare Academy.
- Learn through a mix of theory and hands-on practice. The programme is registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
- Complete your training contracts at a registered Clicks Pharmacy under an approved tutor.
- Attend the required training sessions and pass the competency assessments.
- Build a Portfolio of Evidence that shows what you have learned.
- Support the healthcare team under a registered Pharmacist, staying within the legal scope of practice set by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
What you need
- Grade 12 (matric) with at least 50% in Mathematics, or at least 60% in Mathematical Literacy.
- At least 50% in English.
- A pass in Life Sciences (Biology) or Physics.
- Customer service skills and a friendly, helpful manner.
- Teamwork, honesty and integrity.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good numeracy, literacy and basic computer skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures, plan your work and build good working relationships.
- Advantageous: being from an employment equity target group, or being an unemployed young person. The company gives preference to these applicants.
Is this job for you?
This role suits you if you have finished matric with the required marks and want a career in healthcare. You should enjoy helping customers and working as part of a team. You must also be ready to commit to the full learnership and to work for Clicks afterwards.
Tips before you apply

- Highlight any customer service, retail or teamwork experience on your CV, even if it was part-time or volunteer work.
- Read the work back agreement terms before you apply, so you know what you will be committing to after the learnership.
Note: Successful applicants must sign a work back agreement. You must work for Clicks as a qualified Pharmacist Assistant for at least as long as the learnership lasts.
