Maintenance Operator

About this role

Virgin Active South Africa is looking for a Maintenance Operator to work at one of its clubs in Cape Town. The role keeps the club’s equipment and premises in good working order so members have a safe and smooth experience.

What you’ll do

• Start each shift by checking the job book, fitness checklists and open/close checklists for faults.
• Take instructions from the daily meeting with your Maintenance Technician or Manager.
• Complete repair tasks from the brand standards list, on time and to the required standard.
• Respond to breakdowns and incidents within the set turnaround time.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and service plans, and repair equipment and premises, including outdoor areas.
• Keep work areas clean, tidy and safe, store tools and equipment correctly, and follow health and safety rules.
• Look after basic stock control and tell management when consumables need replacing.
• Complete pool logs, downtime reports and standard preventative maintenance checklists.

What you need

• Matric (Grade 12).
• 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.
• Ability to work hands-on and carry out repairs across the premises.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions, taking ownership of them.
• Trustworthiness and a willingness to learn and grow.
• Advantageous: knowledge of wellness, beyond the health club setting.
• Advantageous: strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with others.
