Part-Time Lecturer – Law

About this role

IIE Rosebank College, part of the ADvTECH Group, is looking for a part-time law lecturer to join its team in Pretoria. The role is about teaching allocated law modules and helping students prepare for their assessments.

What you’ll do

• Deliver lectures for your modules, following the module pacers.
• Manage teaching resources, including academic materials, and work with the Information Centre.
• Keep the Learning Management System up to date and give feedback to students.
• Track student engagement and assessment submissions, and escalate where needed.
• Identify students who are at risk, and design assessments in line with briefings from the Central Academic Team.
• Review and analyse module results, and help the Programme Coordinator spot at-risk modules.
• Attend academic meetings across faculties and help part-time lecturers with faculty requirements.

What you need

• LLM (Master of Laws), NQF Level 9.
• Admitted attorney.
• At least 1 year of lecturing or formal tutoring experience.
• Practical experience with attorneys’ bookkeeping and legal trust accounting.
• Strong knowledge of law firm accounting practices and trust account management.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Advantageous: prior teaching, training or mentoring experience.
• Advantageous: 1 year of industry experience in your area of specialisation.
• Good understanding of the South African higher education system and its rules.
• Comfort working with digital academic platforms.
• Good time management, and the ability to work under pressure and adapt to change.
