Shop Assistant / Cashier

About this role

Clicks Group is hiring two shop assistants who also work the till at its Welgemoed store in Bellville. The job keeps the store running smoothly, from checkout to the shop floor, and gives customers a friendly, helpful experience.

What you’ll do

• Run the point of sale: scan items accurately, take payments and handle Clubcard rewards at the till.
• Handle cash safely at all times.
• Invite customers to join the Clubcard and sign up new members.
• Let customers know about current promotions so they get the best value.
• Greet customers warmly and act as a friendly face of the brand.
• Keep the shop tidy and stocked, following store and visual merchandising standards.
• Stay up to date on products, ranges and promotions so you can answer questions correctly.

What you need

• Grade 12 (required)
• Maths and English at 50% or more at Grade 12 level (advantageous)
• Experience in a customer-facing role in a retail or FMCG store (advantageous)
• Basic maths for handling cash and calculations
• Basic computer skills
• Good communication skills and a strong focus on customers
• Good planning, organising and problem-solving skills
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures
