Statutory and Regulatory Reporting Accountant

About this role

FirstRand is recruiting a Statutory and Regulatory Reporting Accountant for its Johannesburg office. The role supports statutory reporting and the submission of financial statements for RMB and FRG entities, which is part of the wider FNB group.

What you’ll do

• Prepare annual financial statements and weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports, following the applicable accounting standards.
• Keep financial and accounting records accurate and up to date. Process journal entries and prepare reconciliations.
• Complete statutory returns, including VAT, government statistical reports and provisional and year-end tax.
• Track audit findings and incidents, and make sure the agreed actions are carried out.
• Support internal and external audits and tax inspections, and prepare basic financial data for transfer pricing documentation.
• Report accurate financial information on time to regulators, auditors, investors and other partners, while managing several senior stakeholders and service level agreement deliverables.

What you need

• Qualified CA(SA), with 2 to 4 years of post-articles experience.
• Banking experience. Investment banking experience is preferred.
• Practical knowledge of capital markets and other financial instruments.
• Working knowledge of IFRS and Reserve Bank regulations.
• Strong analytical skills and an interest in writing research reports.
• Willingness to work random hours, including late hours, and to work to fixed daily deadlines all year round.
