Teacher: Foundation Phase FAL

About this role

Advtech is a private education provider with school brands offering IEB, Cambridge and IB curricula. This Foundation Phase teaching post is based in Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape, and focuses on giving young learners a strong base in reading, literacy and numeracy.

What you’ll do

• Plan and deliver lessons that motivate, inspire and stretch each learner, building on their individual strengths.
• Teach the basic education skills that learners need in reading, literacy and numeracy.
• Assess learner progress and prepare clear, accurate reports.
• Manage learner behaviour in a fair and consistent way.
• Represent the school brand well and act as a positive role model.
• Handle administration tasks and follow health and safety procedures.
• Build steady, respectful working relationships with colleagues, parents, guardians and the wider community.

What you need

• An undergraduate degree (NQF level 6) in ECD or B.Ed (Foundation Phase).
• A PGCE, if your degree is judged unsuitable. Psychology degrees are one example listed in the advert.
• SACE certification.
• A police clearance certificate.
• 2 to 5 years of teaching experience.
• Computer and digital literacy.
• First Aid training.
• Strong planning, organisation and time management skills, with close attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and professional presentation skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and a mature, high emotional intelligence approach to working with others.
• Ability to think critically and solve problems.
• A commitment to lifelong learning and keeping up with global education trends (advantageous).
